About property

An ancient, recently renovated farmhouse located near the pretty district of Triscina di Selinunte, with a 18.000 sqm outside area will make a perfect, exclusive villa with exclusive comforts. The ideal solution for those seeking the beauty of Sicilian landscapes and quiet, for those who love the outdoors and love to combine the breath of history and local tradition with the modernity of the design of their villa. The property is completely enclosed by an elegant and typical Sicilian wall.

Villa Selinunte is composed of a main building – the actual “villa” –, a cozy dependence, an outside equipped area with external kitchen, a swimming pool and a tennis court, all surrounded by ancient, picturesque olive trees. The restoration has brought the ancient farmhouse’s strong historical traits back to life, preserving its peculiar Sicilian character that perfectly matches with the modern design and furniture.

All the spaces have been wisely organized and arranged in order to provide a truly comfortable and exclusive villa, which can really be considered one of a kind. The main building has a wonderful, spacious kitchen where natural-stone walls and furniture play with lights, shadows and contrasts; the dining room is full of light and cozy as well, and leads to a mezzanine with a bed. The design of Villa Selinunte always merges antique and rural elements – such as the beautiful exposed wooden ceiling with exposed beams – with modern details. From the inside staircase leading to the first floor you have access to: two double bedrooms, one with an additional room that can be turned into a walk-in closet or in the children’s room, and the bathroom. All rooms are set for cable tv and have radiators. Outside, the pretty external kitchen space perfectly completes the villa: an equipped space that can be turned into a wonderful and lively place for open-air dinners or lunches. Moreover, a stone barbecue offers other pleasant social occasions to spend outdoors.

The spaces of the cozy dependance are symmetrically organized: the well equipped modern kitchen with living area is located in the centre of the building, while two double bedrooms and two bathrooms are located at the two sides. Comfortable spaces with modern furniture and a wise utilization of light make this dependance a welcoming accommodation for four people.

Outside spaces are wide and bright and offer various opportunities for relax and outdoor activities: the tennis court ensures delightful moments of fun and sport, while the swimming pool will be perfect for relaxing and sunbathing. There is really a lot to experience at Villa Selinunte, immersed within a wonderful area, with the typical colors of the Mediterranean shrubs perfectly matching with the exclusive modern design merging with the antique traditional traits of an ancient Sicilian farmhouse. Elegance, quiet and comfort!

Note: the house can be sold with furniture, with few exceptions. Kitchens and living rooms are sold together with the house.

Selinunte and surroundings

Villa Selinunte is located just near Triscina di Selinunte, a little seafaring suburb of Selinunte, that houses a very wide archaeological site: it is, in fact, an ancient Greek city located in the south-western coast of Sicily, whose vestiges occupy the area of the district of Castelvetrano, in the province of Trapani. Its acropolis is set on a chalky plateau overhanging the sea, and houses various temples (the most ancient one dates back to 550 b.C.); the eastern hill houses the famous Temple of Hera, that is still particularly well preserved, and the Temple G – the biggest in Selinunte, and one of the biggest Greek temples ever. Among the inestimable findings, the “Efebo di Selinunte” is the most famous: a statue that can be observed at the Museum of Castelvetrano, where we also recommend a taste of the typical local production of black bread and olive oil.

Beaches in Triscina di Selinunte are wide and sandy, and restaurants serving delicious fresh fish can be found both in the small town as well as right in front of the beach itself; and just beneath the acropolis you’ll find the beaches of the Belice Natural Reserve, a wild protected area with stunning natural sites and a crystal-clear sea.

The stunning “Cave di Cusa”, a stone quarry located near Campobello di Mazara, are really worth a visit as well, as they are another great evidence of the importance of the Greek culture for Sicily; and if you want to learn more about the Arab influence in this area you may take a trip to Mazara del Vallo, with its beautiful casbah.
